Magic Makers

Moving through a year of grief, performing artist Sarah Ward picked up some textas and pastels and drew her friends and community. From pictures taken back stage, in kitchens, waiting for takeaway, on tour and in front yards. These are the queers and community that have brought Sarah comfort over this heart breaking year.

In an act of healing, these portraits encapsulate the spirit of each sitter with love. The exhibition was held at local Footscray bar Mama Chens and all works were later given to the subject as a gift. This was part of the Midsumma Festival 2025.
